Ellen Haley, President

Ellen Haley serves as President of CTB/McGraw-Hill, an educational assessment publisher founded more than 85 years ago with the mission "to help the teacher help the child." A 20-year veteran of CTB, Ellen has successfully led all of CTB's major functional areas—Publishing, Research, Technology, Scoring and Programs—prior to being appointed President. Before joining CTB, Ellen spent six years as manager of technical publications for Digital Research, a pioneering computer software company. She began her career as an English instructor at Marygrove College in Detroit, while also serving as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Detroit. Ellen holds a BA in English and History from Marygrove College and an MS in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University.


Sandor Nagy, Chief Operating Officer

Sandor Nagy's expertise and skills align with CTB/McGraw-Hill's focus on customer satisfaction, quality, operational excellence, and global growth. As COO, Mr. Nagy provides broad business leadership across a wide range of functional disciplines and support functions, while also directly overseeing the operations and delivery groups at CTB/McGraw-Hill.

Prior to joining CTB in 2005, Mr. Nagy served in progressive leadership roles at General Electric (GE) from 1992 to 2005. While at GE, Mr. Nagy held leadership roles in the U.S. and Europe in the areas of supply-chain operations, logistics, manufacturing, engineering, customer order management, and services. Mr. Nagy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree from Stanford University.


Richard Patz, Vice President of Research and Publishing

Dr. Richard Patz is a respected leader in the fields of educational measurement and statistics and has published numerous articles on the technical and practical aspects of test development and validation. He has extensive management experience and is highly regarded as an innovator and creative problem solver by colleagues and customers. Immediately, prior to joining CTB, he led a successful consulting business for a client base that included government agencies, research organizations, academic institutions, and test publishers. From 1996 until 2003, Dr. Patz served in leadership roles of increasing responsibility within CTB's Research department including Senior Director of Research. Dr. Patz holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Grinnell College and a master's degree in Science and doctoral degree in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University. A former high school Mathematics teacher, he has held visiting scholar appointments at Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley. He also has received numerous grants in the field of research from organizations including the National Academies of Science, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Research Council Committee on Performance Levels in Adult Literacy.


David Seitter, Vice President of Sales

David Seitter was named Vice President of Sales for CTB/McGraw-Hill in 2010. He is responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategy, budget, and plan for CTB Sales and participates as part of the Executive Team in the development of CTB’s strategies for growing existing core business and expanding new markets. Mr. Seitter works directly with our Sales managers to develop plans at the regional, state, and district levels. As Vice-President for Online Sales, Mr. Seitter was responsible for spearheading the online sales of CTB’s award winning Acuity and YPP products. Prior to joining CTB in 2005, Mr. Seitter was Northeast Regional Manager for Pearson Digital Learning and Eastern Sales Manager for The Learning Company.
