Richard Patz, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Research and Product Development. Dr. Patz leads CTB's research, product development, and publishing activities. In this role, he oversees the teams of staff members who develop each assessment published by CTB.
Wim van der Linden, Ph.D., is an internationally-recognized expert in the field of psychometrics, with more than three decades of publications in the international literature. His vast knowledge in the art and science of educational assessment leads CTB's research agenda, and helps to shape the next generation of assessments.
Seung Choi, Ph.D., is the Senior Director of Research. In this role, Dr. Choi oversees the Psychometric Services Department composed of researchers of diverse expertise for developing nationally standardized assessments and providing psychometric solutions and services to state and local education agencies for the design, implementation, and reporting of large-scale student assessment programs. Dr. Choi has a proven ability to develop innovative and highly technical assessment solutions.
Sandip Sinharay, Ph.D., is CTB's Chief Research Statistician. He provides consultation to the testing programs at CTB on different statistical issues and conducts research to support the different CTB testing programs.
Soe Aung, Ph.D., is the Manager, Statistical Analysis. In this role, he oversees the work of CTB's team of Statistical Analysts in the execution of research methods and operations. This team provides statistical and analytical support to all components of CTB's assessment projects, including pilot analyses, calibrations, scaling, equating, and validations. Dr. Aung and his team work in close collaboration with Research Scientists and Research Associates, as well as colleagues across CTB. As part of this work, the team also provides analytical support to internal R&D projects and the development of new CTB products.
Michelle Barrett is the Director, Research Systems and Analysis. In this position, she directs the design, development, and implementation of Research systems, including statistical analysis and automated test assembly. She also directs the documentation and quality assurance of applied research methods and psychometric procedures, and facilitates communication across groups within CTB to promote the development of high-quality products and services.
Keith Boughton, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist. Dr. Boughton works as the lead Research Scientist for the English/Language Arts and Mathematics components of Acuity, CTB's innovative interim assessment. In this role, he provides technical leadership to the content experts and software engineers who work to provide the Acuity system across the country. He also serves as secondary Research Scientist on the Science component for Acuity, as well as custom Acuity assessments in Indiana and New York City.
Qi Diao, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist. She is the lead Research Scientist for a major Acuity project in New York City. In this role, she works with a team of statistical analysts and content experts to develop and maintain a suite of innovative, online formative assessments in reading and mathematics.
Furong Gao, Ph.D., is a Research Manager of a team of Research Scientists and Research Associates. As part of the team's mission to provide Research leadership to a broad portfolio of large-scale assessments, Dr. Gao provides technical and managerial support to the team. She is actively involved in the research development of Acuity, as well as other CTB assessment products.
Dong-In Kim, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist. Dr. Kim serves as lead Research Scientist for statewide assessments in Indiana and Wisconsin. He also serves as the lead Research Scientist for assessments used by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). As part of these projects, Dr. Kim leads teams of research associates and statistical analysts to plan and implement large-scale student assessments, and to analyze and report the data collected by these assessments.
Daniel Lewis, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Manager. Dr. Lewis serves as senior advisor for Acuity, CTB's innovative interim assessment product. He works closely with a large team of content experts, psychometricians, and software engineers to provide Acuity to schools and districts across the country.
Changhua Rich, Ph.D., is CTB's Research Director, Asia. Dr. Rich is responsible for developing international assessment business and research. By working closely with educators, school administrators, and industry-leading testing experts, she develops solutions for diverse groups of learners and institutions from China, India and the Middle East.
Christina Schneider, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist. She has worked on numerous state assessment projects, including those for the Florida, Tennessee, the U.S. Department of Defense, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Dr. Schneider also works as part of the CTB Standard Setting Team, helping to establish cut scores for large-scale assessments across the United States.
Joanna Tomkowicz, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist. Dr. Tomkowicz is the lead Research Scientist on the statewide assessment in North Dakota and on the national assessments in the State of Qatar. She also serves as a secondary Research Scientist for assessments in New York.
